Like This
She wants to be loved,
needs to be loved
by everyone
Too hard to take when there’s disappointment in their eyes
It makes her lash out, then hide
It drives her insane
And when she says:
“I don’t know why I am like this,
I admit that I’m scared of
what they think it is”
There is still a voice
to let her know
It doesn’t have to be
what everybody wants to see
“Even if things were different
you’d still be like this
If everything around you
was different you’d still be this”
And she learns that
“This, what you’re just
taking about is way better than
you think. “
But they don’t know that.
Or maybe they do.
because they feel it too, that
No one else can hear your thoughts but you
You rarely find someone who
sees right through
And when she says:
“I don’t know why I am like this,
I admit that I’m scared of
what they think it is”
There is still a voice
to let her know
It doesn’t have to be
what everybody wants to see
“Even if things were different
you’d still be like this
If everything around you
was different you’d still be this”
She’s a mess, she’s a fool,
She’s a ‘way beyond the stars’
kind of girl
She knows, knows it all
And then she loses grip and falls
Just to realize in time
that being recklessly stubborn
and stupidly childish
can be more than okay
and she will be just fine
And when she says:
“I don’t know why I am like this,
I admit that I’m scared of
what they think it is”
There is still a voice
to let her know
It doesn’t have to be
what everybody wants to see
“Even if things were different
you’d still be like this
If everything around you
was different you’d still be this”
