in moments of silence 


At the risk of sounding a bit melodramatic: sitting in my 6th grade classroom today at 10:30, the kids are taking an English test, a colleague joining us , writes these words on this piece of paper and hands it to me … [ “Driving here I listened to the news on the radio. Several bombs went off in Brussels ( airport & metro ) ” ] … I read them , then look at her , then look at the kids who continue to write, oblivious to what’s going on in the rest of the world … and I’m suddenly hit with a wave of emotion , seeing them so calm and safe , wishing for them to be able to have this peace and quiet for the rest of their lives …
